Finally managed to get out down eastney Portsmouth.
Unfortunately I didn’t realise the southern league were having a match and when they started turning up they didn’t give me much space!
I managed to get an hour in before the match started but it was just whiting and dog fish which normally...
I've not been able to get out and fish since May for various reasons. but now the droughts end is in sight..... probably not the right words to using considering the amount of rain we have at the moment!
just been catching up on the reports to see how everywhere has been fishing which have been...
Hey all,
As some of you will know I’ve only been fishing “properly” for a couple of years and I’ve been enjoying learning how to tie and use different rigs, this year I’ve been toying with some of the more technical styles…. I basically never use anything more complicated than flappers and...
Finished work early so Last minute decision to get out yesterday afternoon.
Headed to the local beach with some barely defrosted quid and mackerel with some half dead rag worms….. ok so not the greatest start haha but it was lastminute.com
Only fished 2 hours up and 1 down, not expectations...
I could only get out during daylight this week and had great weather for it, minimal wind and the sun was out.
Still hoping for a Ray! Had fresh mackerel and squid to see if I could tempt one in on a pulley pennel rig with 3/0 J & circle hooks.
First cast I had a dog fish, it took a while to...
Fished Gillkicker last night ( I put a few google map photos up if your not local and wonder where these places actually are)
Got set up just after low tide 1600ish and fished to an hour past high tide until midnight.
New moon, spring tide 0.8m to 4.55m picked a “nice” spot with a the deep...
With the weather still pretty crappy I decided to try fishing in a sheltered area of Portsmouth harbour a little estuary called broadmarsh.
Pretty comfortable spot fishing next to the van.
I was on the hunt for some flat fish with whispers of flounder being caught at a near by mark on budds...
Fished lee on Solent or lee on THE Solent..... depending on where you come from!
I had been keeping a close eye on the weather..... mainly the wind all week, even up to the time I was in the van ready to go ..... shall i just go to eastney 5 mins up the road where i can just turn round and go...
Apologies if this has been covered before, feel free to point me in the direction of the post.
I was reading about the use of circle hooks instead of normal J hooks for a better catch and release experience for the fish (if there is such a thing)
All the blurb seems to suggest you get a better...
Unfortunately the weather was absolutely blowing with high on shore wind…… so I went down to eastney in portsmouth anyway 😂
I turned up massive waves wind blowing me sideways. Trudged past 2 anglers cowing in their shelters rods rattling in the wind. “ any luck?” “Not a single bite in 5 hours”...
Fished browndown beach last night hoping for a Ray 3/0 2/0 hooks, up/over rig, pulley pennel rig.
Sand eel and squid for bait.
I’ve not fished browndown before got there at low tide and had a mooch around picked a spot not far inside the browndown military training area (red flag was down so...
New moon
Big tide
Windy all day (not me! the weather)
Fished 2 bagnal bar rigs with 3/0 hooks to try and stop the ting fest I had last time on small hooks!
Bait was sand eels, black lug and squid in various combinations.
First couple of cast produced the inevitable whiting!
Then it was quiet...
.. had a bit of black lug left over from the weekend so headed down to the nudist beach in eastney Portsmouth.
Fished 0700-1100. High at 0830.
No wind and actually pretty warm!
Only fished 1 rod as there was a fair bit of weed about and it was pretty choppy.
Alternated between - 3 hook clip...
With the temperature climbing to a balmy 4 degrees and a gentle on shore wind I decided to head out for a few hours fishing 1 hour before high until 2 hours after high.
Black lug on a 3 hook clipped and sprat on a bagnal bar.
Nothing even nibbling the sprat throughout but the lug brought on 2...
Hey everyone hope you’re all well and had a good years fishing.
I haven’t managed to get out since Christ in august which was a bit of a disappointment with the weather blowing an absolute Gale and weed as far as the eye could see!
I’m planning on getting out before Christmas and am wanting to...
Hey everyone ling time no sea!
Finally got out after a million and 1 other commitments in life that get in the way!
Good to get a few hours in on the local beach. The nudist end in front of fort Cumberland derelict buildings
I’ll keep it brief!
Windy, cloudy. Clear water
High tide 1700ish...
Haven’t been able to get out for a good month but decided to head to the local beach on a sunny but cold day time session.
Calm sea, zero wind, clear waters targeting a plaice with a simple up and over single size 2 hook with a few fancy beads. Using a 4oz bright pink rolling weight to see if I...
eastney hasn’t exactly been fishing very well at all. But I had a few hours to kill so decided to get out with just 1 rod and some sand eel on a bagnal bar rig with a nice long snood length for a nice relaxing session in the hope of a Ray or dab. Another blank unfortunately!
It was the mark...
So I headed out for an hour to try a bit of light rock fishing in Portsmouth.
I bought a HTO urban finesse rod (0.5-5g) so really light stuff! I tried a variety of baits from rag, to metal lures and jig heads with soft lures.
It felt a bit odd using all this super light flimsy tackle! Thin...
