Morning all just bought some new FS 8000 size reels and looking to backfill the spools with some cheap mono before adding the main line. Which knot do you guys use please ?

As we tend be creatures of habit I currently use a 20lb mono main line @.40 to fish over clean/mixed ground using FS. I'm thinking of going down to 18lb @.35/37 just to have a smaller diameter line and possibly adding a few extra yards on the cast without compromising to much much on strength 💪...

In the past I've always tended to use Shimano FS reels I don't tend to spend more than £200 on a reel for beach casting. In that price bracket who are now producing the better products Penn or Shimano?
